The current slabs
Residential consumers receive ₹30,000 per kW for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, with the total capped at ₹78,000. Group housing societies receive a separate rate for common-area systems.
Who qualifies
You need a residential service connection in the applicant's name, a roof you own or have written permission to use, and installation by a registered vendor using ALMM-listed modules and BIS-certified inverters. Commercial connections are not eligible.
Documents to keep ready
Recent electricity bill, consumer number, Aadhaar, PAN, a cancelled cheque or bank passbook page, and proof of roof ownership. Having these scanned before you apply removes most of the delay.
How long it actually takes
Registration and approval typically take one to three weeks, installation a few days, and inspection plus meter change another two to four weeks. Subsidy usually credits within 30 to 45 days of the net meter being installed.
